FotoML Overview

Foto Markup Language (FotoML) is an open XML-based photo annotation format. It is developed to store in an ordinary JPEG file semantic information about individual objects visualzied on images or specific parts of images.

This information includes text entered in a tag, its positioning on the image, positioning of a callout which connects the tag with an individual element, as well as data about selected regions, color of text in tags, tag and caption background color, and callout color.

As this format is free and provides a standardized way to represent information about the objects on photos, Cogitum encourages developers to use this format in their applications.
