Internet Genealogy Covered FotoTagger in the January Issue
The genealogy community is recognizing FotoTagger Desktop as a tool for labeling family photos. The Internet Genealogy magazine covered FotoTagger in the January issue. I think there is a very simple explanation why FotoTagger is so popular among genealogists and family historians. It lets people do what they really need: identify ancestors and family members on family photos.

Digital photography brings both new opportunities and challenges. On one hand, you scan the old photos, use special techniques to restore pictures, burnthem on a CD and not worry that the passage of time will degrade and deteriorate the quality of the image.

On the other hand, digital pictures do not have a backside where you can write comments. With paper photos, notes can be written on the back, so they were always stored and shared together with the photo. When your grandmother sent her family picture by post to her old classmate, she could be sure a recipient would see both the picture andher comments. In today’s world, we have more ways for sharing and social networking. Blogs, e-mail and websites allow us to make our family photos available to millions of other people. This opens up new opportunities to find distant relatives, get assistance in identifying unknown people or perhaps meet someone familiar with your ancestors.

FotoTagger brings the backside of a photo to the digital world. With paper photography, notes could be written on the back, so they were always stored and shared with the picture. When digital photography came along, the back side went as a remnant of the past. The FotoTagger goal is to revive the back side, but with a completely new quality that adds a new value to family photos.
The January issue of the Internet Genealogy magazine (http://www.internet-genealogy.com/) covers FotoTagger and genealogical content in the FotoTagger Galleries. You can click here to go to the FotoTagger press page and read the full article.
